Identity

Identity

Login to the WordPress admin area securely using SiteBox universal identity

For backend instances, SiteBox Identity replaces the standard WordPress login flow by changing simple default form into a secure SiteBox Login Gateway.

When SiteBox identity is enabled for the instance, the platform adds a must-use WordPress plugin, which remains in place until a service is disabled. The plugin redirects wp-login.php requests to the SiteBox Identity Gateway, which initializes a OIDC compliant login flow which uses Auth0 as an Idenitity Provider.

Identity benefits

From administrative perspective, the key difference after SiteBox Identity is enabled, WordPress dashboard is no longer capable of user management. Despite the fact, users page still exists, you can't add or remove any users there and it will remain for a clearly informative purposes. The flow is completely migrated to SiteBox Dashboard in which you will:

  • add and remove users,
  • request password changes,
  • block or unblock existing users,
  • manage users on scale,
  • implement additional security policies.

From a technical point of view, SiteBox Identity is a main source of knowledge for user management, however user management structures in WordPress remain in place to grant full compatibility with 3rd party plugins, extensions and all built-in functionalities.
